Its important to have your own identity here on Mars. I mean, you don’t just want to be the average colonist in a black spandex, right?
So I’ve experimented with logos before, both for fun and for projects. This was a first on two levels, though: I’ve never made one on Illustrator, and I’ve never made one in this style, either. I noticed that many logos these days are moving to more minimalist designs (see Google or Microsoft), with large, geometric, colorful shapes. I realize that in both of the examples I mentioned, and many others, the tetrad color scheme is popular. I chose to avoid that, as I didn’t want to use that scheme. I chose to stick with neutral themes (black for seriousness, white for simplicity and being refined), with a touch of color for contrast. I chose blue to try to emphasize seriousness and professionalism. The letters RAM are my initials, for Ryan Alexander Mayers. I have rarely messed with negative space, so I experimented here, and I was very happy with the result. In the end, I managed to produce a logo I am quite happy with.
