Polygon meshes are one of the major methods of modelling a 3D object for display by a computer. Polygons can, in theory, have any number of sides but are commonly broken down into triangles for display. In general the more triangles in a mesh the more detailed the object is.
We were allowed to choose any subject matter for this project, so I went with the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 from the show Star Trek: The Original Series. As a fan of the shows, I figured it was only natural to do this. It was a symmetrical shape, which made it much easier for me to work with (as I only had to produce half of the final image).
